Ninjutsu represents techniques and arts used by ninjas, but refers less to fighting techniques than to methods of disguise and enlightenment.
But today it is defined as a modern Martial Art.
Most people know ninjas only with swords, but they were not afraid of trying out new weapons and so weapons like crossbows, explosives and novel poisons found their way to the ninja’s arsenal. Typical swords for ninjas were in opposite to the Samurai (sword on the side) carried in an Obi on the back to make climbing easier.
